Application for membership 

Becoming a Member

Procedure For Registration As A Member of the ECCIMA

  1. The company must be duly incorporated to carry out business in Nigeria.
  2. The company must have a registered office in Enugu or its environs.
  3. Pick up an application form at our Abakaliki Road Office, Enugu on the presentation of a Bank Certified Cheque for the total payment.
  4. For application to be valid, prospective members should either be sponsored by two financial members of ECCIMA or present two reference letters from their Bankers, and/ or Legal Practitioners (Notary Public).
  5. Particulars of Payment are as follows:
  1. . Forwarding of application forms with the sum of N2,000 (Two Thousand Naira).
  2. 2. Processing Fee – N10,000.00 (compulsory for all new members).
  3. 3. The Annual Subscription, payable for the time being on receipt of advice of election, is as follows:
  1. v Category A: Banks, Financial Institutions & ‘A’ Level Corporate Firms -N30,000.00 per year
  2. v Category B: Medium Scale Enterprises (50-100 Employees)-N15,000.00 per year
  3. v Category C: Small Businesses (0 – 50 Employees)-N10,000.00 per year
  1. A certified Bank Cheque for the Entrance, Subscription and Development Fees payable on application should accompany the completed Application Form. The Cheque should be drawn in favour of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture or to First Bank Account No. …………… . Payment made would be refunded if application is unsuccessful, except for the N2000 for the forwarding of the form.
  2.  Completed Application Form together with Company’s Certificate of Incorporation/Registration should be returned to the Director-General Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Secretariat Complex , Old Trade Fair Complex, Abakaliki Road, P.O. box 734, Enugu.

Evidence of Certificate of Registration of Business Premises.

Evidence of Current Tax Clearance Certificate

Evidence of Form CO7 – Particulars of Directors

Withdrawal of Membership

Any member wishing to resign must submit a written notice of not less than one Calendar month, prior to 31st December that year, to the Director General, indicating his intention to resign his membership or else his resignations shall not be acceptable and he shall be liable to pay subscription for the ensuring year.

  1. 1. A member whose subscription is in arrears cannot vote, and when his subscription is six month in arrears, he shall forfeit all his privileges as a member. His name will be announced before the Council as a debtor and minuted. The arrears will be recovered by the Chamber .

4.      Discount on Chamber’s services

Fee paying services of the Chamber shall be offered to members at a discounted rate. The discount would range from 5% to 10%, depending on the Membership category. These include training programmes, workshop, trade fairs, hall and office rentals, etc

5.      Discount for participation at the Enugu International Trade Fair

Members will enjoy a discount on participation fees in the annual Lagos International Trade Fair, organised by the chamber. This discount ranges between 2.5% and 10%, depending on the membership category.

6.      Lounge for Members

The Chamber has provided a lounge for the comfort of members at ECCIMA Resource Centre, Abakaliki Road, Enugu. Internet services will be available in the lounge while tea, coffee; biscuits could be served at a moderate fee. Members are allowed a maximum of two guests at a time and should communicate interest to the secretariat at least a week to the day of the meeting.

7.      Website/Blog for Members

This service will be offered to members who may not be able to afford the cost of developing elaborate websites for their companies. The simple site/blog can be developed for them at a minimal charge.

8.      Listing of members on Chamber’s Website

To give maximum exposure to our members, their corporate details will be uploaded on the Chamber’s website. This will complement the marketing and networking efforts of members. We could also link this listing to members’ website so that visitors to the site can contact members directly.

9.      Regular Entrepreneurship & Management Training

The Training Unit has been repositioned to offer regular entrepreneurial, business development and management seminars, trainings and workshops in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurship Development Research for members and non-members of the Chamber. Members would enjoy a good discount on these programmes.

10.           Letters of introduction to Embassies

Members who intend to travel abroad will be given letters of introduction {on request} to facilitate Visa application.

11.            Provision of Meeting Rooms at discounted rates at the ECCIMA Offices in Abakaliki Road and Permanent Trade Fair Complex

Meeting rooms can now be provided for members to hold business meetings at subsidized rates at both our Abakaliki Road Office and Permanent Trade Fair Complex. Tea, coffee, biscuits, projectors, public address system etc could be provided at subsidized rate.

12.           Discounted Rates for members at Airlines and Hotels

The Chamber has entered into discussions with some reputable Hotels and Airlines to arrange discounts for members of the Chamber. The outcome will be communicated to members.

Business Information services

The Chamber offers business information on export, import, economic policies, trade fairs, etc. to members.

14.           Inward and Outward Trade Missions

The Chamber is intensifying its trade mission activities. Members will have more frequent opportunities to visit exhibitions abroad. Similarly, the Chamber will continue to offer a platform for interaction and networking with incoming trade mission.

16.           Arbitration, Mediation and Conciliation

The services of the Eastern Arbitration Centre Ltd by Guarantee, a baby of ECCIMA will be made available to members at a subsidized rate.

17.           Business Services: Internet, Photocopy, etc.

The Chamber would now offer secretarial services to members at subsidized rate at the Abakaliki Road office in Enugu. This shall include internet service photocopy, typing etc. This can serve as a support to company member who may not have the full complement of secretariat facilities in their various offices.

18.           Policy Advocacy

Policy Advocacy at the ECCIMA remains a core mandate.  This is done through our various programmes such Business Environment Advocacy Roundtable, Quarterly Business Luncheon, Quarterly Press Briefing, Press releases, Groups’ Seminars/Symposia, Business Networking, Stakeholders’ Forum and Representations to Federal & State Governments and their Agencies.
